Dorothy? Is that you? Toto?

Yesterday we had 3 separate funnel clouds touch down in our immediate area.

We live in California remember?

About 6pm we got in the truck & headed to Wednesday Night Service.

The sun was shining.

Just as we pulled out of the driveway my SIL called & asked if we could see a tornado.

My husband said “Can we see a WHAT?” & then we came over the hill.

The whole sky to the west was black & moving & quite ominous.

And right over where we were headed was a big scary funnel-ish looking cloud.

My SIL didn’t believe us so my husband took some pictures & sent them to her.

The cloud started to dissipate & we kept driving.

The weather went from sunshine to pouring rain & then driving hail.

Just as we crossed the freeway my MIL called to ask if we could see a tornado.

Right then, to the south of us was a huge black mass with these weird wispy fingers that looked an awful lot like they were trying to become a funnel.

My husband pulled over & took more pictures & sent those to his mom.

We weren’t the only ones. About a dozen cars were pulled over watching the same cloud.

As we continued towards town our view was obscured by trees but just as went through the main intersection, we had a clear view to the south & I was pretty darn convinced I saw a tornado.

We pulled into the church parking lot (which was covered in about 4 inches of water) & everything to the south & west was black, black, black & scary.

To the east the sun was shining & there was a beautiful double rainbow.

Directly south a funnel cloud was forming & you could see it touch down about 3 miles from the church.

Looking south from church doorway.

It touchdown briefly & then lifted back up & continued moving west & touched down again about 10 miles away.

Folks started showing up at the church & sharing what they had seen & showing pictures.

We checked online & there were confirmed touch downs in 2 small areas just west of the church.

One person came in & said about 2 miles south rows & rows of trees were ripped up in the orchards.

The phone rang & it was a Sacramento news station looking for a story!

They interviewed my husband & a couple other folks from church over the phone live on the air.

They even put a few of our pictures on the news (technology is a wonderful thing).

It was an interesting Bible study ;)

From the news I have seen so far most of the damage was to crops & orchards. Some ‘property’ damage & I read of one injury.

Praising the Lord for His mercies.

Our storm was nothing in comparison to what the folks in the Midwest & South are dealing with.

But the very fact that we just had a tornado touch down in Northern California should attest to the fact that the weather this year is uber freaky.

So if you want me today, I’m gonna be outside digging a storm shelter…

Blessings.
