Spring in the High Desert

Spring has sprung here on the high desert.

In fact it feels more like summer!

The grass is growing, wild flowers are blooming, the sun shines & it is warm!

And of course, the thing that makes Spring truly Spring~ babies!

In the last week we have added goat kids, rabbit kits, turkey poults, goslings & chicks to our menagerie.

Since there is nothing cuter than baby animals I knew I just had to share...

4 of our goats are currently expecting & the first one gave us beautiful twins on Saturday. A buck & a doe.

Got milk?

2 expectant mothers looking through the Nursery window.

Everybody loves babies.

The money shot.

Checking out the rest of the herd to see who will be next.

Look at the view thru the barnyard gate. I love the pattern of the fields beyond. Happy sigh.

The first of our bunny does to kindle this year.

See them in there? All cute & warm & fuzzy in their little nest?

My big goose enjoying the green grass & sunshine.

Our pumphouse looking decidedly more like a hatchery than any thing else...

Meat birds. This is our first year trying Red Rangers. They are supposed to be excellent foragers & suited to free ranging. I'll let you know how they do.

Christmas & Thanksgiving.

10 new pullets for the flock.

And DP's trio of goslings. He saved for a year to buy these guys. He is pretty stoked.

So there you have it. Our newest additions to High Desert Farm.

Now to get the garden plowed, the raised beds cleaned out & refilled & reclaim all my flowers beds & refence...well, everything.

It's a definite work in progress!

Blessings.

It Isn't Easy Being Green

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Did you wear green?

Did you eat green?

Did you drink green?

Did you eat corned beef & cabbage? Alas. We missed out on that this year & I missed it dreadfully...

I do love fun holidays where I can get creative & surprise my kids & wear something fun.

I'm a child at heart <3

And I do love to any excuse to color our food...

Blessings.
