What A Long Strange Trip It's Been

We just got back from a Desert Vacation. The main portion of the trip was THE GRAND CANYON.

Yes, I AM shouting :)

We drove pretty much the whole length of California & then turned left at Joshua Tree.

In case you have never see one this
is a Joshua Tree.

Also known as a Yucca Palm.

They are kinda creepy in a bizarre desert sort of way.

But, this is the Southern California Desert where everything is out to kill you...

Fun place huh?

So after taking a left at Joshua Tree we headed towards Arizona.

Did you know the London Bridge is in Arizona?

Yeppers. Lake Havasu City to be exact.

A developer bought it & brought it over from London block by block & reconstructed it & then built a canal  underneath it (weird I know) all in the name of luring thousands of retirees to live in the middle of God-forsaken-nowhere.

And guess what? It worked!

The place is booming.

They have a little English Village with a fountain & shops...

and an old fashioned English phone booth...

...and of course we had to initiate our children into the age old pass time of seeing how many people you can fit in a phone booth. ;)

Of course we all had to touch it. You know, so we can say we 'touched' the London Bridge. You know.

You will have to come back for the next installment to see my woefully inadequate attempts to capture the beauty of the Canyon.

Blessings.
