For the dorky homesteader....

Homesteading is like anything else. You have your dorks, your dweebs, your geeks, we exist in every community. The other homesteading dorks out there will understand this: I got a new milk bucket! I am so excited!

How can I be excited about a bucket you ask? Well, for one thing, the sucker cost $39.95 . Stainless steel, no seams, nowhere for bacteria to hide out. Too cool. Now, my other milk bucket was also stainless steel & seamless, BUT, it was only 2 gallons. My new bucket is 3 gallons! See? Now do you understand the excitement, the happiness, the giddy "new bucket" joy?

Well, the geeks do. The dorks. The homesteading dweebs like me who have goats & chickens & 3 gallon milking buckets in their kitchen.

I think the cow liked it too .

Blessings.

  1. Congratulations. They say the first step is admitting you have a problem. ;0) Now that you've gone first, I feel much braver.

  2. It's not a bad thing to get excited about getting a bucket...I about fell over myself when we installed our wood furnace.

Maybe someday we can be dorks together...

  4. I am so jealous! I want a new bucket! (heck, I'd even take your old one!). Of course,

If you give me a bucket, I'm going to want a goat or cow to go with that.

And if you give me a goat or cow, I'm going to need a field to put her in.

And if you give me a field, then I'm going to want a barn (small is fine!)

And if you give me a barn, I'm going to want to live nearby, so I will need a house (or if the barn is big enough I'll live in there, too)

And if I have a house I will want to fill it with children.

And if i have a houseful of children they will need to be kept busy (it is starting to look like a farm here, after all)

And to keep them busy, I will teach them to milk a goat and/or cow.

And if they're going to milk, they will need a shiny, ss, seamless bucket for their very own.

And if you give a kid a bucket, they will need their own goat or cow....

    :)

    That was fun!

  5. glad you got your bucket!!! Thanks for the wonderful laugh. I wonder if I am a dork, gweeb, or geek?

I am dreaming of a double walled-with freezable-coolant, 5 gallon tote- and of course, stainless steel, seamless, with a strong handle and nice tight lid.

My buckets have to be smaller and shorter for the milking process, but MAN I am tired of carrying 3 buckets into the house every time.
