Sentry Eagle 2015

One of the awesome parts of living here in the Klamath Basin is having Kingsley Field Air Base.

Every F15 fighter pilot in the country trains there.

We get to see the jets fly over us every day. It's sooooooo coooooll.

Today we attended the Sentry Eagle.

  1. Sentry Eagle is a biennial air-to-air combat training exercise hosted by the Oregon Air National Guard's 173rd Fighter Wing. The exercise allows pilots from the 173rd FW to train against dissimilar aircraft, to practice aerial refueling and combat operations.
They open up the base to the public & have military vehicles, weaponry & equipment on display that you can climb on & in, handle, ask questions about ~ it's very awesome.

You can get right up to the field where they are taxiing the aircraft & watch them take off.

Imeanrightthere.

They even give you earplugs.

The boys tried out a number of cool vehicles & weapons, W. told us what every weapon was (accurately. He's a creepy genius I'm telling you.) David chatted up all the soldiers. I took pictures. H. looked cute...

Trying out the grenade launcher.

These are M- something or others (I'm not a firearms genius...)

Discussing the woes of the world.

Flying the helicopter.

This is one of the jets that fly over us.

And this is what it looks like inside.

Super nice pilot guy who answered all of our questions & showed us how the parachute works.

A few jets taking off...

Standing in front of the ginormous Chinook helicopter-flying-machine-thingy
(I told you. I'm not the military genius)

THIS is only part of it!

Inside the Chinook.

It was a super cool, super awesome day & all the folks at Kingsley Airfield go out of their way to make it that way.

Can't wait for the next one!

Blessings.
